  • Gustav Update

My family evacuated from Mandeville, LA on Friday to Pine Prairie (just south of Alexandria). Word to the wise: When you are evacuating from a hurricane don't go right into the path of the eye of the storm. After some rough weather we are doing well, living on a generator and still getting bad weather. Two people died early this morning from a tornado that hit nearby. We are still having tornado watches/warnings in the area from the outer bands of the hurricane. Will this thing PLEASE move on? It's lingering. And the sopping wet ground can't take much more wind. I want to go home. And move on with life.

All in all, so far, so good. I had a cold shower this morning and I am feeling much better. There is much to be done.

    An excerpt from Entergy:
    "Current Outages
    • Gustav continues causing new outages in the Entergy system. As of 5 a.m., outages increased overnight in Arkansas due to high winds from the storm.
    Louisiana Total 742,832

    Louisiana/Mississippi Restoration Progress
    • In terms of power outages, Hurricane Gustav is the second worst in Entergy’s 95-year history, peaking at about 850,000 early Tuesday – the overwhelming majority of them in Louisiana. That easily bypassed the 800,000 outages in Hurricane Rita in 2005. The only larger number of Entergy outages was 1.1 million in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina, which has been described as one of the worst natural disasters in American history."

  • The Hurricane Game

With Gustav, everyone in Southeast Louisiana is quickly reminded that hurricane season is upon us. Gas station lines are already long. One friend of mine was pumping gas and they raised the price WHILE she was putting gas in her car! Lowe's and Home Depot have already sold out of generators. Wall-mart is filled with people on cell phones asking spouses what else they might need before evacuating. Everyone is more busy than they were last week. "Do the kids have their bags packed? Is there enough bottled water in the house? Do we need to board up the windows? Dad, if we loose electricity for too long we might be cleaning out a 90 gallon fish tank full of dead fish."

Oh the joys of living on the coast!

    I wish I had a generator.

  • I'm still alive!

I didn't realize how long it's been since I've posted! Does anyone still read xanga? I hate facebook. It's so annoying. And myspace is trying to be like facebook...blah.

Has anyone read William Federer's book "What Every American Needs To Know About The Qur'an?" I have only just begun reading it. It is eye-opening to say the least. I think everyone should research to gain an understanding of the beliefs of Islam. Some of you have heard of another book "Inside Islam," by Reza F. Safa. If you have not read it yet, I highly recommend it. Also, there are some great articles out by Dr. Mark Gabriel a former Muslim Imam.

With the upcoming election, it is important for Christians to know what Islamic beliefs are. With the spreading fame of Barack Hussein Obama II, it is important for Americans to be educated. Everyone has the freedom to vote however they wish. But it is my fear that Americans will vote in the direction of familiarity rather than educated logic. Media has been plastering his face everywhere, and he is a more "attractive" charismatic choice. However, I would not want to vote a terrorist into office. He is definitely a TYPE of the antichrist. A spirit of antichristian, opposing those who follow Christ. Wether you agree with Bush's decisions regarding the war on terror or not, we cannot go back in time. Obama will pull the plug on Israel, he is not in the least concerned about our troops overseas, having never served in the armed forces himself, and thinks he can lead as Commander -in-chief? Scary.

All I am saying is do your own research rather than letting the media feed you a load of crap.

Here is a short video that I have come across recently....
